A lot of art classes do art in a "Homogenous" way, meaning all the art looks the same. This style of art doesn't really allow the artist to explore, and or express their own creativity.
We are now introducing a "Fundamentals and Foundations of Art" class. These classes will be an all-immersive art experience exploring the fundamentals and foundation of art. The students will not only be exploring, engaging, and experiencing the different styles of art mediums, they will also be exposed to the many different famous artists we know today; Van Gogh, Picasso, Frida, you get the idea. This will allow them to experience the true meaning of being immersed in the fundamentals and foundations of art.
We will be offering art classes Monday-Thursday for kids and adults. Friday will be for make-up classes, and for "Open Forum". Open forum is for anyone who didn't finish their work during class sessions and wants to finish it up.
ALL classes will begin January 12 and end on Feb 27 (7 weeks). You can choose how many weeks and days you want to attend. After the 7 weeks, we will do it again and add levels.
* Only requirement: You have to sign up for 2 weeks minimum, ANY 2 weeks.
We will be concentrating on two foundational skills: Drawing and Watercolors.

Everywhere around us there are lines of all sorts. How you use them it's up to you. When you allow your imagination and creativity take control, the possibilities are endless. This class will allow to explore those possibilities.

Perspective is how we perceive things. We will go over the 6 points of perceptive. For this session we will concentrate on the first 4. We will introduce 5 and 6. In our advance class we will concentrate more on 5 and 6. Keep an eye out for our advance classes.

Have you ever wondered why a drawing, or painting looks lighter, or some are darker? Why is that?
Value, in art, is how light or dark something is on a scale of white to black. The highest value is white, and the lowest value is black.
You will explore the depths of value and light.

Watch for that edge, no, the edges in art, which shows the transition between two shapes of color. You will explore how hard, soft and lost edges are used.

Proportion, how big something is relative to another object. This concept will vary with different styles of art, but, within reasonable proportion.

Composition is in most, if not all forms of art. Having good composition will help tell the story of the art piece you are creating.

Have you ever drawn a stick figure? I know you have; everyone has. Now, let's take that even further. Now we are getting into anatomy of drawing. This will be introduced in this session. Our advance class will explore even deeper.

Wet the paper with clear water, then paint while it is still wet.

Taking our paint and painting on dry paper.

Applying a layer of paint over a layer that is already dry.

Using a damp brush and go over the edge of the area we want to soften.

Drop a little bit of color onto the area so it can blend within the area you are blending it with.

Using a flat brush, with very little water will give it texture.

Creates an even tone of color.

Transitioning from a darkest value (dark color) to the lightest value (light color).

A step more than gradient wash, with a hint of slight change in color.

Lifting colors off an area that is wet using a clean dry brush.

Exactly what it is.

Creating a shadow or a dark side of area.
